Planet Mars in India corresponded to Krishna in the encarnation of a lion Nr-Simha. The word "pyr" in Greek is fire connected with planet Mars as well, in fact Mars was the planet of the fire Pyroeis. Mars was the Falcon (Hawk) Horus the Red One (Hor Dshr) and the sphinx in Egypt (also the facon Horemhaket) was painted red.
Pay attention to the snakes coming out of the head of the lion. It's like Uraeus snake coming out of the sphinx headcloth. In planet Mars we see (not a helmet as Sitchin interprets) but the headcloth worn in Egypt & Mexico with the "rays" of "solar" enlightment. It's because the snake always presents itself as giving enlightment, really it uses the truth to deceive.

Consider this is also not a earthy lion but human-lion with several arms, it's the representation of hyperdimensional creature, a cherub, pretty similar to the descriptions mentioned in Ezekiel and Apocalipsis, Daniel and Isaiah in the Bible and in all cultures.
